In 1969, a Plantronics headset carried the historic first words from the moon: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Since then, Plantronics has become the headset of choice for mission-critical applications such as air traffic control, 911 dispatch and the New York Stock Exchange. Today, this history of Sound Innovation™ is the basis for every product Plantronics builds for the office, contact centre, personal mobile, entertainment and residential markets. The Plantronics family of brands includes Plantronics, Altec Lansing and Clarity.

Plantronics designs headsets for a wide range of devices, including phones, laptops, handhelds, and entertainment and music devices. Its offerings enhance a variety of applications across numerous markets, including the office, personal mobile, contact centre, gaming, entertainment and residential.

The company has partnerships with leading OEMs, and telecommunications, voice recognition and audio equipment manufacturers, all of whom contribute state-of-the-art technologies to Plantronics products.

Plantronics was founded in 1961 in Santa Cruz, California.

Plantronics became a publicly traded company in 1994 and trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol PLT.
