How to find the firmware version of the USB Headsets?

Procedure

How to Check the Headset Firmware Version

Without the Persono software:

  1. With the headset plugged in, click the Start menu and then click Run.
  2. Type "MSINFO32" and click OK.
  3. Under System Information, double-click Components.
  4. Double-click USB.
  5. In the right pane, locate a device labeled "USB Composite Device."
  6. To the right of the Device name, in the column labeled "PNP Device ID", is a long string of characters starting with "USB\VID_...". The last eight characters of this string, following the last hyphen(-), is the Firmware Version Number. It begins with a capital "V" followed by a six-digit number and ends with an alpha character (a, b, d, j, etc...).

With Persono version 1.9 or higher:

  1. With the headset plugged in, open the Persono application.
  2. Click the Persono icon in the upper left area of the Persono window (next to the red microphone icon).
  3. In the dialog box that opens, there will be a line listing the "Firmware Version".

With Persono 1.8 and lower:

  1. With the headset plugged in, open the Persono application.
  2. Click the Persono icon in the upper left area of the Persono window (next to the red microphone icon).
  3. In the dialog box that opens, click the About tab.
  4. There should be a line beginning with "Vendor:" followed by two lines beginning with "Product:". The next line is a long string of characters starting with "USB\VID_...". The last eight characters of this string, following the last hyphen(-), is the Firmware Version Number. It begins with a capital "V" followed by a six-digit number and ends with an alpha character (a, b, d, j, etc...).

Firmware Versions

  • V0030109d - Requires firmware update for compatibility with Windows XP and for compatibility with the Intel 82801BA/BAM USB host controller. May require firmware update for use with Macintosh.
  • V040001j - Requires firmware update for compatibility with Windows XP and for compatibility with the Intel 82801BA/BAM USB host controller.
  • V050000e - Requires no firmware update at this time.
  • V030201a - Has firmware update for compatibility with the Intel 82801BA/BAM USB host controller. Requires firmware update for compatibility with Windows XP.
  • V040005a - Has firmware update for compatibility with the Intel 82801BA/BAM USB host controller. Requires firmware update for compatibility with Windows XP.
  • V030201b - Has firmware update for compatibility with Windows XP and for compatibility with the Intel 82801BA/BAM USB host controller. Requires no firmware update at this time.
  • V040005b - Has firmware update for compatibility with Windows XP and for compatibility with the Intel 82801BA/BAM USB host controller. Requires no firmware update at this time.
  • V30109j - Has firmware update for Mac. This firmware upgrade will allow speech-recognition programs to recognize the DSP headset as an input device. Requires no firmware update for use on the Macintosh. Requires firmware update for compatibility with Windows XP and for compatibility with the Intel 82801BA/BAM USB host controller.
