Cary Bran serves as Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Innovation at Plantronics. In this role he is responsible for setting strategic direction and leading innovation efforts associated with research and development of next generation communications solutions that enhance the human experience. As part of this scope, Bran also directs PLT Labs, a multi-disciplinary team within Plantronics that is working to identify and develop advanced, concept communications technologies. Bran is also responsible for overseeing Clarity, a division of Plantronics that creates smart communications solutions to help seniors live richer, more engaged lives.
Bran joined Plantronics in 2011 as Senior Director of Advanced Software Technology and Architecture. Subsequent roles included Senior Director of Innovation and New Ventures, and Vice President of Innovation and New Ventures. Bran’s background includes more than sixteen years of experience developing enterprise collaboration and communications software solutions. Prior to joining Plantronics, Bran was at Cisco Systems, Inc., where he held increasingly senior management positions in software architecture, business development and technical strategy. During this time Bran led Cisco’s WebRTC evangelism efforts and contributed to the IETF and W3C WebRTC standards development.
Bran graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor of Science degree (Cum Laude) in Computer Science, and holds a MBA from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. Additionally, Bran holds several patents related to communications, augmented reality, and user experience. He is also on the board of the Bluetooth SIG.
