Community Support in Santa Cruz
As one of the largest companies in Santa Cruz County, we know that our support is vital to area nonprofits. Each year we donate headsets to local nonprofits. Since 2001, our donation committee, staffed by employee volunteers, has supported over 125 local groups, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Dientes!, Ecology Action, Walnut Ave. Women's Center, Tannery Arts, Santa Cruz County Symphony, UCSC scholarships, Homeless Services Center and the Santa Cruz Community Counseling Center. In addition, we have been a proud supporter of the United Way for more than two decades, matching all employee contributions.
Plantronics and Second Harvest
Our relationship with Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County goes back to 1997, when we participated in the annual food drive for the first time. In the past 14 years we have donated the equivalent of 2.5 million pounds of food for local families in need. During the holiday season Plantronics employees hold raffles of donated items, with all proceeds going to the Food Bank. In spring 2010, we kicked off a new giving program, matching every dollar donated by fans during San Jose Sharks' playoff games. Money raised during the "Hungry For the Title" campaign helped provide food for families in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara/San Mateo counties. We have also contributed expertise to Second Harvest, assisting with the design of their current warehouse and distribution floor and donating half a million dollars for the project.
Community Support Around the World
During natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, we donate headsets to be used in emergency call centers. We have also contributed to emergency relief funds for natural disasters around the world. For example, we made donations to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the tornados in the southern region of the United States and the tsunami in Southeast Asia.
Our employees in Mexico participate in a variety of community activities, including volunteering at a local orphanage, raising money for local charities, giving blood, and participating in beach cleanup days. We also donate Plantronics equipment to the local police department in Tijuana to help them do their jobs more efficiently.
Employees of Clarity, a Tennessee-based division of Plantronics, donate to the local food bank and to senior services in Chattanooga. Clarity also sponsors a team of employees who walk to raise funds and provide support for people with hearing loss.
