Wireless Headsets used with the APC-41/APC-42: Troubleshooting transferring calls when used with Cisco 79xx phones

I have a Cisco 79xx phone and am using a Plantronics wireless headset with an APC-41/APC-42 EHS cable. When I attempt to transfer a call, the original call is placed on hold but I am not able to dial the transfer destination. When I already have an active call on the phone, I am unable to answer the new incoming call. The original call is placed on hold and the new call is disconnected. Is there a fix for this problem?
The issue started with firmware release 9.3(1) SR4. Cisco will correct the issue in release 9.4.2.
