How do I switch from the headset to my external PC speakers?

For Analog (sound card connection) headset: You need to unplug the headset or purchase a . Audio Headset Speaker Switch. For USB connection Headsets: Windows 98 SE:
  • Go to the Start Menu, point to Settings and click on Control Panel.
  • Double-click the icon labeled Multimedia.
  • Select the "Audio" tab.
  • From here you can select the preferred device for "Sound Playback" and or "Sound Recording".
For Windows ME and Windows 2000:
  • Go to the Start Menu, point to Settings and click on Control Panel.
  • Double-click the icon labeled Sounds and Multimedia.
  • Select the "Audio" tab.
  • From here you can select the preferred device for "Sound Playback" and or "Sound Recording".
For Windows XP:
  • Go to the Start Menu and click on Control Panel.
  • Double-click on Sounds and Audio Devices. (If this icon is not visible, you may have to first click on Switch to Classic View)
  • Select the "Audio" tab.
  • From here you can select the default device for "Sound Playback" and or "Sound Recording".
For Windows 7:
  • Go to the Start Menu and click on Control Panel.
  • Double-click on Sound. (If this icon is not visible, you may have to first click on Switch to Classic View)
  • Select the "Playback" tab.
  • From here you can select the default device for "speakers".
For Macintosh Users:
  • Go into your control panel and make sure under system preferences the preferred device is chosen and highlighted in the Sound Effects, Output and Input tabs.
Please note you cannot use both the headset and the external speakers at the same time.
