Troubleshooting Tips for the CT10 Telephone

Answer

No Dial Tone Check that:
  • You are plugging the CT10 into a Single Line, Analog telephone jack.
  • The CT10 battery is fully charged. The battery may need a charge when you first install it. The Charge light will flash and stay lit, if it needs a charge. Once the battery is fully charged, the Charge light will go out.
  • All cords are connected correctly and firmly in place.
  • The remote is in range of the base.
Also try:
  • Adjusting the Dual Function Receive Volume Control key (the * key) to increase the volume.
  • Separating and then reconnecting the battery and the remote unit.
  • Returning the remote to the charging base for 5 seconds to re-establish the communication link.
NOTE: The CT10 is an analog phone and can not work in place of a digital system phone. If you do not hear any sounds out of the headset, it is possible the speaker connection is broken. You can test the headset by plugging it into a cordless or cellular phone. I hear conversations other than my own. Why? If you hear another conversation other than your own, it is due to the channel setting. The CT10 has 40 different channels, so if your reception isn't clear, try cycling through each, until the reception of the call improves. Use the channel button on the remote pack to cycle through the channels. You can also try using the remote unit closer to the base unit.     How do you adjust the incoming call volume? You should adjust the call volume while you are on a call.  To increase the volume, press and hold the * key. To decrease the volume, press the # key. Callers cannot hear me on the CT10.  What should I do? Try the following:
  • Verify that the mute button is not on.
  • Try pushing the channel button on the remote unit.
  • Make sure the headset is making a solid connection to the remote unit.
Can I adjust the flash timing? The CT10 models vary by region. Specific flash information for each model is as follows:
  • 46862-01 (CT10 Single Line Cordless Telephone, 110V US plug): 600 ms Flash
  • 46863-01 (CT10 Single Line Cordless Telephone, 110V US plug): 98 ms Flash
  • 46863-03 (CT10 Single Line Cordless Telephone, 110V US plug): 300 ms Flash
  • 46863-06 (CT10 Asia Pacific/Latin America Single Line Cordless Telephone, 110V US plug): 600 ms Flash
  • 46961-01 (CT10 Single Line Cordless Telephone, 220V EU plug): 98 ms Flash
  • 46961-03 (CT10 Single Line Cordless Telephone, 220V EU plug): 300 ms Flash
  • 46961-06 (CT10 Single Line Cordless Telephone, 220V EU plug): 600 ms Flash
  • 46961-04 (CT10 Asia Pacific/Latin America Single Line Cordless Telephone, no plug): 98 ms Flash

Here are a few maintenance tips to keep in mind:
  • Keep the CT10 system dry. If it gets wet, unplug the AC adapter, and then wipe the unit dry immediately. Liquids can contain minerals that can corrode electronic circuits.
  • Use and store the CT10 only in normal temperature environments. Extreme temperatures can shorten the life of electronic components and/or distort (or even melt) its plastic parts.
  • Keep the CT10 system away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature product failure. Use a clean cloth to clean unit of dust.
  • You may want to periodically swab the metal prong of the headset with rubbing alcohol to keep it dust free.
  • Handle the CT10 system gently and carefully. Dropping it can cause serious damage to circuitry, or plastic case, which may result in the unit malfunctioning.
