Cisco Jabber for MAC asking for keystrokes events on MAC OS Catalina (10.15) or greater

Article ID :

Starting with macOS Catalina (10.15), Apple has added new policies that require user permissions for Cisco jabber software (and many other apps) for Keystroke Receiving access (as shown below).

Cisco Jabber does not require keystrokes from other applications – or interact with the keyboard, it does use Plantronics Jabber plugin which require USB HID device information from the headset to answer calls etc.  when the button on the headset is pressed.  Users will need to provide access to ensure the headset works as intended.

Keystroke Receiving Access

To provide access
  1.  Click Open System Preferences.
  2. In System Preferences, click the lock at the bottom left corner to unlock.
  3. In the right panel, check the box for Cisco Jabber.

  1. Select Quit Now to restart Cisco Jabber for the changes to take effect.

Note: the same keystrokes message will appear if an application was built to use Hub SDK due to USB HID device information from the headset required for call control.
