CS500/CS500XD Series Troubleshooting: Buzzing in Background

Question

People I talk to hear a buzz in the background.  How can I fix this?

Answer

  • Try muting your headset. If the buzz stops, the microphone is defective and you should replace your headset. If the buzz persists, proceed to the next step.
  • Try placing your hand within half an inch of your microphone. If the buzz becomes louder, the microphone is defective and you should replace your headset. If the buzz persists, proceed to the next step.
  • Try moving the base around on your desk. If the buzz changes as you move it around, it is possible something might be causing interference. Try to determine the source of interference. You may want to try turning off the electronics on your desk. If the buzz disappears when you turn off a device, try plugging that device or the headset power supply into a different outlet. Additionally, if the base power supply is plugged into a power strip, plug it into the wall directly.
