Question

My mic monitoring is too loud/too low and I want to turn it down/turn it up.  I hear too much white noise on my headset and I want to remove it.

Answer

  • All mic monitoring for the RIG wireless headsets are on the headset, not in console
    • Due to the architecture of consoles and USB, it’s impossible to have it controlled by a console or a PC.

  • The RIG 700 wireless headset has three levels of mic monitoring.  The headset ships with “normal” levels of mic monitoring.  There is a “high” level of mic monitoring which increases the level of mic monitoring, and a “none” level where there is no mic monitoring.

  • To adjust the mic monitoring on the RIG 700 headset, please follow these following steps:
  1. Have the headset powered on.
  2. Push and hold the mute button for 3 seconds located on the bottom of the left ear cup.
  3. You will hear three low tones. Release the button after these tones. This is the “high” setting for mic monitoring.
  4. Push and hold the mute button again for 3 seconds. You will hear one low tone, this is the “none” setting.  Release the button after this tone.
  5. If you push and hold the mute button again, you will hear two low tones.  Release the button after these two tones. This is the “normal” setting for mic monitoring.  To go back to “high” or “none,” repeat step 3 and step 4.

  • The newer version of the RIG 800 will have mic monitoring, while the older version will not.
    • To determine if you have the newer version, check the microphone boom.
    • If the microphone boom can be detached from the headset, you have the newer version.  If it’s fixed and cannot be removed, it’s the older version.

  • The RIG 800 headset ships at the “normal” levels of mic monitoring.  There is a “high” level of mic monitoring which increases the level of mic monitoring compared to “normal”, and a “none” level where there is no mic monitoring.

  • To adjust the mic monitoring on the RIG 800 headset, please follow these steps:
  1. Have the headset powered on.
  2. Push and hold the EQ button on the right ear cup for 3 seconds. The button is located at the bottom of the right ear cup.
  3. You will hear three low tones. Release the button after the tones. This is the “high” setting for mic monitoring.
  4. Push and hold the EQ button again for 3 seconds. You will hear one low tone, this is the “none” setting.  Release the button after this tone.
  5. If you push and hold the EQ button again for 3 seconds, you will hear two low tones.  Release the button after these tones. This is the “normal” setting for mic monitoring.  To go back to “high” or “none,” repeat step 3 and step 4.
